Karen Krueger and her husband Tom were charter members of the Wave Booster Club and loyal supporters of the Wave organization since its’ start in Milwaukee. Karen was a warm, caring and kind person. She had a great sense of humor, a knack for saying the right thing at the right time and truly brightened the lives of the people she touched.
Karen fought a long, hard battle with cancer losing her life to the disease in December 2004.
Her name is listed on a Wave banner hanging in the US Cellular Arena. This award is dedicated to her spirit, her memory and her love for the Wave.
Each year the Milwaukee Wave Booster Club awards one of its own members with the Karen Krueger Award. The award will be presented at the Player Appreciation Banquet. The 2005 recipient was Louise Au. Paulette Petropoulos won the honor in 2006 and the 2007 winner was Candy McGuire. These ladies will be part of the review committee for the 2008 award.
Club members are responsible for the nominations.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Ø 5 years membership in the Booster Club
Ø Must be an active participant in the Booster Club
Ø Be supportive of the Wave organization and active within the community
Ø Share many of Karen’s same qualities
